Most everything in my kitchen pantry cabinets is white or crystal clear. White kitchens have a timeless appeal, and I like to carry that theme throughout, including the tableware. If you’ve been thinking of making the switch to all white, here are some tips to show you how.
When our kitchen pantry cabinets were built two years ago, I couldn’t wait to fill them with my dishes, serving pieces, glassware and Pinwheel crystal that was previously stored in an antique oak china cabinet.
We specifically designed the extra tall cabinets to accommodate large serving dishes and tall crystal vases. The deep, wide drawers easily store large items including my KitchenAid stand mixer 5-Qt. glass bowl and Food Processor attachment. One drawer is specifically for linen – it’s large size easily hides my table runner obsession!
White tableware always looks fresh, and it’s so easy to pair with rustic or elegant elements like neutral pottery, warm wood, glass and crystal, and black or primary colour napkins.
One of my favourite tableware sets is Crate and Barrel’s Black and White Collection. It includes a 20-piece dinnerware set that is perfect for both casual and up-scale dining. I also love the rustic country feel of Rae Dunn pottery. The sugar and cream set is so charming!
Large soup bowls are a must in our home, as we all love to cook rice bowls and Asian noodle soups like Vietnamese pho and Chinese wonton soup. To my surprise I found the perfect sized bowls at the local Dollarama.
Simple white dinnerware and clear glass can easily be paired with your patterned porcelain & bone china dinnerware to set a stunning table. Give it a try! Check out how I paired my Royal Doulton Lausanne porcelain china with classic white dinnerware to create A Refreshing Summer Table Setting.
