Valentine Linzer Cookies

Love is in the air, so it’s time to bake some heart-shaped cookies for Valentine’s Day! Valentine Linzer Cookies are a crisp buttery cookie filled with sweet raspberry jam and finished with a sprinkle of icing sugar.

When I was inspired to create my Valentine’s Day Sweetheart Tablescape, I knew I had to include Valentine Linzer Cookies. What better way to spend Valentine’s Day than cozied up with a crisp glass of champagne, homemade treats and the one you love?

Nothing says I love you like these adorable Valentine Linzer Cookies.

How to Make Valentine Linzer Cookies

  • In a medium-sized bowl, sift together flour and salt. Set aside.
  • Using mixer, cream butter, sugar and vanilla extract until light and fluffy. Add the flour mixture and beat in. Knead dough gently to form a ball. Add a little more soft butter if the cookie dough is too dry.
  • Roll out dough on lightly floured surface to 1/4 inch thick. Cut into rounds with a 2-inch fluted cookie cutter. With half of the rounds, cut a hole in the middle using a small cookie cutter. Place on ungreased baking sheet.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Bake cookies for about 15 minutes, until edges begin to brown. Allow cookies to cool to room temperature.
  • Spread raspberry jam on the flat side of each solid cookie. Dust cut-out cookie with powdered sugar and press the flat side onto solid cookie with jam in the middle and powdered sugar on the top.

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup raspberry jam
  • powdered sugar, for dusting
